I set this up because I couldn't find any paper...

Go-man

I think I've decided to give up pencilling for a while, since I obviously enjoy colouring much more.
Here's another collaboration pencilled by Mike, coloured by myself.
Just experimenting with shades and lighting more than anything...I know the brown pants and the entire colour-scheme sucks but oh well.

  • Ok Brad, I hate to say it, but you're right. As an experiment, I'd say this colour scheme is not what one might call a success. BUT, I really like the broader strokes you're taking with the shading. It's way braver and much more what I'm trying to push you for. You are showing some BALLS here son! Some artistry! Take another shot at the colour scheme and really consider the reference I sent you. Try a more consistantly muted palette, I like blues, greys, white. These colours are too bright and they clash, you're not here just to fill in the lines, you need to look at the image as a whole and DESIGN the colour scheme. Go for it!
Also, lose the red eyes, this guy is decidedly human under there, kinda like a well characterised portrayal of the Thing, he's trapped under that mask but still goes the hero route.

  • I thought he was a robot...

The colours were just there for contrast more than anything. I wanted to show the shading, and step away from colour schemes for a brief moment, and I think it was a success, since you saw the impression I was going for, but I will do a different colour scheme when I wake up tomorrow...Harley is a WIP that I think you're gonna hate.

I got rid of all the lines, because they just didn't scan well, and are way too difficult to PS around.

  • I just want to make sure you get what a success I think you made of the shading here. I'm going to be critical while we work out how we mesh as artist and colour artist. I'll try not to be brutal, but I'm gonna be honest. That can sometimes sound harsh, especially via the internet, but props where they are due. Aces on the approach to shading, a HUGE leap forward.

  • Leaping is good.

As long as I keep it simple, I think it'll work well.
